Environment/surroundings :
This is a typical Frisian house in the old village of Hijum. The island of Ameland is only 13 km away and makes for a lovely day trip. The city of Leeuwarden, European Capital of Culture in 2018, is around 10 km away. The privacy, space and interesting activities nearby make this holiday home perfect for families.

The house was completely renovated in 2017, which means it's totally up to date in terms of comfort and luxury. There are two separate living areas - the living room and the kitchen-diner. The steep staircase in the kitchen provides access to the mezzanine, which is furnished with a double bed. The second bedroom is situated at the back of the house and can be reached by a separate staircase.
There's a lovely garden and terrace next to the house, which is a great place to relax. And there's plenty of parking space around the house as well.

Within 2 km, you'll find the 'Noorderleech' natural area, which is great for long walks and for spotting some animal species that are typical for the Wadden area. The owners of the holiday home are a chef and a sommelier; they cook wonderful, fresh meals with regional and organic products and can always recommend a fine wine to go with it. The restaurant is located next to the holiday home and it also has a lovely terrace, which is a good place to enjoy a nice lunch.
