San Bartolomé, situated at the geographic centre of Lanzarote, is a
picturesque town which has remained faithful to its agricultural roots.
Casa Ajei, now an arts centre, and Casa del Mayor Guerra, declared to be
of Cultural Interest, are two outstanding examples of this town's
architectural heritage. Also in the district, a monumental sculpture by
the artist César Manrique pays tribute to the farmers of Lanzarote, very
near the Farmers' House. This replica of a popular residence contains a
handicrafts centre and a restaurant where you can try the islands'
traditional cuisine.
